Flo & Ali, Barn at family home, Staveley

Affection. That’s the one overriding thing I remember of this wedding.

My favourite thing about shooting weddings is capturing the emotions, the little exchanges, the essence of the couple and their loved ones. I know I teeter on the threshold of sounding twee when I write things like that, but weddings really are the days when love shines, and when talking about weddings, it’s perfectly acceptable to get a little corny.

I photographed the bride’s twin sister’s wedding 6 months before, so it was lovely to see the family again. Thanks Elly and Rob for the recommendation!

Flo and Ali had had a civil ceremony already, so today Flo’s twin Elly would serve as Celebrant, setting the tone for a relaxed and utterly personal celebration. The day was held at the family home, moving from ‘chapel’ to a larger barn for the meal, speeches and dancing - the barn had been cleared out by the family to host both sisters’ parties.

It was sincerely an absolute delight to photograph this wedding. There are so many shots where the bride and groom are in complete synchronicity, so many scrunched-up, unabashedly happy faces. Such a properly joyful occasion.

Thank you Flo, Ali and your families for choosing me to be your photographer, and for being such warm hosts. Congratulations, I wish you a lifetime of happiness.

“Amazing, thank you so so much! We love them! Can’t wait to look at them in much more detail this weekend, but they look utterly brilliant and so full of happy memories.

Thanks again!
